Dispatch #5: I’m sitting in the food coop eating a really good salad, and some coconut pepper soup. The Growers’ Market is today, so there are tents for people to sell the things they grow in their gardens. There’s a wine and a coffee tasting station. There’s a young mom and tattooed dad and their little kids, and the old Jewish bearded guy who teaches Buddhism. Oh and live music with a banjo. And just because it’s Tuesday—that’s what happens at the coop on Tuesday. I don’t know what the feeling is, but it’s strong and surprising. Like why should it be beautiful that these simple things are happening. I feel like it’s something that was stolen from most of us and replaced with a tanning salon and a Chipotle. — Sofya at Moscow Food Co-op
